Role of the Institution in the GenomeIndia Project: Design and implement graph-based algorithms for constructing Indian-population-specific reference genome structures and comprehensively analyse the variants and heterogeneity of Indian subpopulations.

Accomplishments and Outcomes

  • Constructed an Indian-population-specific genome graph using the common variants (MAF > 0.05) from 2,015 ethnically diverse GenomeIndia samples.
  • Developed computational pipeline for genome graph construction incorporating DRAGEN-called variants and optimized the genome graph-based variant calling.
  • Formulated novel and scalable methods for intricate structural analysis, and comprehensive functional and sample-level annotation of genome graphs.
  • Manuscripts in preparation: The first paper is on methods development and the second paper is on genome graph of 3000 Indian genomes.
